What You’ll do (the role)
Summary
The unique challenges of the Dutch permitting process mean that it is a central element within our development process. We are looking for a commercially minded professional to manage environmental, spatial planning and permitting matters on our utility-scale solar park projects.
The role will involve working with senior staff on the management of all aspects of the environmental planning process on projects, including feasibility and zoning plan assessments, site visits, managing consultants to prepare applications, engaging with municipalities and aldermen, and keeping track of policy developments.
You will work closely with other internal teams, both national and international, including business development, project management, asset management and structured finance.
Role and Responsibilities
- Undertaking site feasibility assessments (desktop analysis and site visits) of potential project sites
- Creating a zoning plan and policy check and identify any potential issues for developments
- Assisting senior staff in the management of consultants to prepare applications and assessments (pre-applications, planning applications etc), and reviewing these documents
- Engaging with local municipalities to promote our projects
- Tracking local and national level policy development to identify opportunities / areas with policy supportive for our projects
- Coordinating community participation and communication processes
- Attending community engagement events alongside senior staff.
- Identifying and reporting on environmental and permitting risks, requirements and timeframes to the Head of Environmental Planning & Permitting
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge / Experience
- Candidates must have knowledge of the Dutch environmental and planning system; Preferably also knowledge in the upcoming new environmental law (Omgevingswet);
- Preferably relevant experience in a relevant field, including experience managing or preparing environmental permit applications

Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (master’s degree) in spatial planning / environmental law;
